A teenager is charged with raping a young woman in the Fortitude Valley of Brisbane on New Year’s Day and will appear in court on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the detective released a CCTV footage in a public appeal to identify a man who wanted to ask questions about the case, and a few hours later the man handed himself over.
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man in an alley on Warner Street around 4 am on January 1. The woman did not know the man.
According to police, the woman managed to escape from the lane with the help of passers-by.
Around 11:30 am on Wednesday, the detective released a video of a man captured at Brunswick Street Mall who wanted to ask questions about the case.
In less than four hours, a 19-year-old man living in the suburbs of Logan in Marsden handed him over to police.
He was charged overnight for rape and illegal stalking. He will appear in Beenleigh’s Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
