Survey says most Australians will get COVID vaccine

Survey by home healthcare providers CareSide It reveals that the overwhelming majority of Australians plan to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The survey surveyed a sample of 1122 Australians and categorized respondents by age. Respondents were 18-39 years old, 20% were 40-64 years old, and 6% were 65 years old or older. Overall, 69% of respondents said they would be vaccinated once the vaccine was approved and available.

The group aged 65 and over was most interested in vaccine protection, with more than 3 out of 4 people aged 65 and over planning vaccination. Surprisingly, only 57% of people between the ages of 40 and 64 plan to get the vaccine when it becomes available. Among young adults aged 18-39, 71% say they plan to get vaccinated.

The survey asked how respondents felt about the Australian Government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. A significant majority (79%) said they felt the government did a good job. By comparison, 21% said they did not feel that the government was in control of the pandemic. This response was generally consistent across age groups.

Herd immunity problem

While it is encouraging that most Australians are willing to be vaccinated with COVID-19, the findings from the report may not be good news for long-term efforts to contain the pandemic. ..I don’t know how many people need to be vaccinated to achieve Herd immunity.. New, more infectious variants of the virus have been identified in Australia, threatening to continue to contain the spread of the disease.

Moreover, it is not known how much the vaccine will prevent infection. According to the report, Australian herd immunity can require vaccine rates of 80-90% or higher, depending on how effective the vaccine is in preventing infection.

As a home care provider for the elderly, CareSide has been deeply involved in caring for Australia’s most vulnerable people through a pandemic. Providers conducted this study to learn more about the obstacles the country faces during the deployment of vaccines in order to better serve clients and support their communities.
