Sprint star Gytrash poised for shock early Group 1 return

Gunsprinter Gytrash could make an incredible comeback next month with two Group 1 races being considered on the same day.

Group 1 star Gytrash is ready for an amazing early comeback and will target Group 1 Goodwood in his home state next month.

The $ 1 million Group 1 Doomben 10,000, which will be staged on the same day and is worth twice as much, could be 10,000, but Morphettville’s Goodwood is the preferred option for trainer Gordon Richards.

“Initially it wasn’t really on the agenda, but he’s now pretty trimmed and doesn’t require a lot of work to reach his goals,” Richards said.

“Goodwood is still a bit far away on the 15th (May) and he has enough time to adapt to it.

“There is no guarantee, but I would like to crack it if possible.”

TAB has inserted Gytrash as Goodwood’s $ 6 second favorite, and as its all-in-market Doomben $ 10,000 chance.

Richards argues that if he doesn’t continue to impress, he won’t take the risk and rush back Gytrash.

However, the stables are pleased to recover from bone fragment surgery after being seen last in the race that won the Yes Yes Yes Stakes in Rose Hill last October.

The winner of the 2020 Group 1 Lightning Stakes was recently caught up in a flood drama in New South Wales, where a star galloper spelling took place in Hawkesbury, where his spelling paddock sank.

He was then transferred to a waterwalker facility, which was blocked by the flood.

As a result, he spent extra time working on the waterwalker and built a fitness base at Goodwood for unexpected slopes.

Gytrash has only a short campaign before it’s been tidied up for a break and brought back in the spring when the finisher, who finished third at Everest last year, is back on the slopes in the $ 15 million race.

But before that, the five-year-old is aiming to be one better at Goodwood than when he finished his runner-up last year’s trek.
