Severe Storms Down Trees in Arkansas

Damage was reported in western Arkansas after a heavy thunderstorm struck the area early on Tuesday morning, May 4. Storm Chaser Jock Williams investigated the damage to Fort Smith. The National Weather Service (NWS) said a gust of 74 mph was reported at Fort Smith Regional Airport. A heavy thunderstorm warning was issued in western Arkansas until 4 am, warning of winds at 70 mph and flash floods. “Extensive damage” was reported at Van Buren’s Crawford County Courthouse, and several school districts in the area chose distance learning on Tuesday.
