Husband’s Death Has Left ‘Huge Void’ For Queen Elizabeth II: Son

Queen Elizabeth II forgot the death of her husband, Prince Phillip, as prayers were spoken at memorial services throughout Britain.

Prince Andrew said his 94-year-old mother was “incredibly stoic” but was hit hard by the death of the Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99 on Friday.

Last year, the couple celebrated their 1973 marriage.

“She explained that (his death) left a big gap in her life,” Andrew told the broadcaster after a church service at Windsor Castle, west of London.

He described his father as “the grandfather of the country” and said that his close family was “gathering” in support of the Queen.

His younger brother, Edward, called his father’s death a “terrible shock” despite his recent illness.

The comment was made when the highest priest of the Anglican Church led a prayer at the memorial service of Prince Edinburgh.

“For the royal family, like everyone else, the depth of grief that leads to bereavement is beyond reach,” said Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

The Queen is the head of the Anglican Church.

Other senior religious leaders paid tribute to Philip. Philip has been regarded as important in supporting the Queen during his 69-year reign.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols, head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, told Vatican Radio that the prince had a “cheerful sense of duty” and brought “stability” to the Queen and the country.

“My beloved dad was a very special person. Above all, I was surprised by the reaction and emotion he was told about him. From that point of view, our family is deeply grateful for all of that. ., “He added.

Prince Phillip’s death triggered an eight-day memorial service, and a funeral was held on Saturday at the St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

His well-developed funeral plan (codenamed “Operation Force Bridge”) was urgently amended due to coronavirus restrictions and required confirmation of government guidelines.

While the chapel congregation is limited to only 30 people, the public elements of the ceremony have been removed to avoid crowd gathering.

It sparked great speculation about whether the Duke’s grandson, Prince Harry, would attend after he and his American wife, Meghan, resigned from the royal family last year.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Harry’s attendance on Saturday, but said Megan, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, would not travel on medical advice.

The couple, who now live in the United States, have launched a series of broadsides against the royal family, including alleged racism and not taking care of Megan’s mental health.

The service, which airs, will be carefully watched for signs of tension or reconciliation between Harry, 36, and his brother William, 38, after the reported crack.

The brothers were expected to meet for the first time in July since they moved to the United States on their 60th birthday at the unveiling of the statue of Princess Diana, Harry’s deceased mother.

According to the Sun-on-Sunday newspaper, the two walked behind their grandfather’s casket while mourning on the castle grounds, like a boy at his mother’s 1997 funeral.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, Harry was in a hurry to find a plane soon after hearing his grandfather’s death and was scheduled to return to England on Sunday.

Former British Prime Minister John Major said the funeral was an “ideal opportunity” to restore the relationship between the brothers because of their common grief for losing their grandfather.

“I am very much hoping that it will be possible to repair possible cracks,” he told the BBC TV.

Despite the public’s demand for no respect at the royal palace, the homes of Windsor and the Queen’s Buckingham Palace in central London have seen constant hope.

“I think he deserves a wider honor, but that’s the situation these days and I think it’s the right thing to do,” he told AFP.
