‘Great disconnect’ between politicians and the public on mass immigration

Leith van Onselen, Chief Economist at MacroBusiness, said there is a “big gap” between politicians and Australians when it comes to mass immigration.

It comes because the Government of New South Wales wants to increase immigrants to attract more workers to help recover from the pandemic.

However, a recent poll by the Australian Institute for Population revealed that 70% of the population did not want to return to pre-pandemic immigration levels.

“Unfortunately, politicians do not represent us. They represent fellow large corporations,” Van Onselen told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
