Facebook media ban hits independent publications hard

Facebook’s ban can ruin hyperlocal media publications — and it’s far from the only challenge they face.

As you know, Facebook injured dozens of small players last week, targeting big Australian media players. My news site, TerrierIt was hit by a shrapnel based in Warrnambool, Victoria.

Van! Terrier Facebook was wiped out overnight, and the more than 5,300 followers I’ve enthusiastically built up over the last three years have evaporated.

To maintain oxygen, we immediately launched the “Terrier Florist” page on Facebook. I haven’t pushed up the daisy yet. In addition, Facebook is aware of the mistake in that method. We are back.
