California Gov. Gavin Newsom Survives Recall, NBC News Projects

Gavin Newsom survived California’s recall, allowing Democrats to serve his full term as governor, NBC News projection Indicated.

Face-to-face voting ended on Tuesday at 11:00 pm EST.

Recall asked voters if they should replace Newsom, and suggested that if he was liable, he would choose from 46 options.

Newsom will be elected in 2018 and his term will end in 2023. Republican-led recalls gained momentum over allegations that he mishandled the state’s coronavirus response.

According to NBC News, in an exit poll, “voters who supported Newsom on public health measures said that Newsum’s Covid policy was correct and that the measures were too strict, compared to multiple, or 45%. Another 17% is not strict enough
