Biles Hints At Retirement U-turn, Eyes 2024 Olympics

US gymnastics superstar Simone Bills said Wednesday that she might reconsider her decision to retire after this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

Recognized by many as the greatest gymnast of all time, the world-dominated and Olympic general gymnast has previously said he intends to cut the leotard after Tokyo.

However, her French coaches Laurent and Cecil Randy have persuaded them to expand their options, she told reporters at the US Olympic and Paralympic Commission’s Virtual Media Summit.

“For now, my main focus is Tokyo,” Bills said. “Then we have a tour that brings us all over the United States. I’m really excited to do that.

“I’m not sure after that. Since Cecil and Laurent are from Paris, it’s guilty to come back as a specialist, but the main goal is to go first to the Olympics, then touring, and then to go. Must see. “

The 24-year-old initially vowed to retire after Tokyo and told the BBC in a 2019 interview that her body would not be able to withstand the punishment of the next Olympic cycle.

“I’m suffering most of the time … I’m definitely planning the Tokyo Olympics to be my last,” Bills said.

“I feel like my body has passed a lot, and it’s just like it’s falling apart-I can’t really say, but I really feel it a lot . “

On Wednesday, Bills said he was disappointed with the postponement of last year’s Olympics, but decided not to waste years of preparation.

“The main thing was to try to stay healthy for another year and to liven up the mental game for another year,” she said.

“I have a lot to think about for another year, but I’ve worked so hard that I’ll continue to do my best. If it’s postponed, I’m too much to give up now.

“It was my goal for a while, and I wasn’t ready to cut it for quarantine and postponement.”
