Alibaba To Develop Self-Driving Trucks With Logistics Arm

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba (Baba) Will start developing self-driving trucks through Cainiao, a logistics division, with the aim of promoting delivery operations.

The announcement was made Thursday by Chief Technology Officer Cheng Li at the Global Smart Logistics Summit held by Cainiao in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. Reuters report.

According to Cheng, Cainiao plans to launch 1,000 autonomous delivery robots in China by the end of next year.

Details of the unmanned truck and R & D program have not been disclosed by the company.
